The sudden [1] death of the King of Pop stunned[2] the world. Jackson’s life was full of scandal and eccentric behavior. But for fans, Jackson will be remembered as the artist who conquered the world with his music and dancing

A multimillionaire artist, but in debt. An eccentric singer who was addicted [3] to medications and shocked fans all over the world by wearing [4] a mask and gloves [5]  in public. An idol and father to three children, who in 2002 dangled [6] his own newly-born[7]  son out of a window on the fifth floor [8] of a building in Berlin. This insane act shocked millions and millions of people all over the world. These – and many other – facts left their mark on Jackson’s career. But Michael Jackson will be remembered as a singer who recorded great songs and who the world loved to see dance as only he could.

The rise [9] of the King of Pop

Michael Jackson had a poor childhood, but his talent got him out of poverty. He began working when he was a child. In the middle of the 1960s he was the singer with “The Jackson Five” and played shows alongside his brothers. In 1970 he left the group and began a successful solo career. Songs such as “I’ll Be There”, “Ben”, “One Day in Your Life” and “Music and Me” are unforgettable. His best phase was at the beginning of the 1980s. In 1982 Michael released “Thriller”, the biggest-selling album ever, selling 100 million copies. Songs such as “Billie Jean,” “Beat it” and - of course - “Thriller” were massive hits all over the world. In the 1980s, Jackson also formed a successful duet with former Beatle Paul McCartney.  In 1996 Jackson was in Brazil to record the video for the song “They Don't Care About Us” – including the group Olodum.
